Online and Phone Scams Are Becoming Increasingly Sophisticated
Have you ever received a sudden message from an “old friend” checking in out of the blue? Seen ads claiming you can earn thousands of dollars a day with minimal effort? Or received a call from someone claiming to represent a government agency?
According to data from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2023, over 26 million Americans reported being targeted by scams, with total losses exceeding $10 billion. Surprisingly, the majority of victims were not seniors, but adults aged 18 to 59—a shift from common perception.
To help our community recognize and respond to common fraud schemes, we are pleased to host a fraud prevention seminar featuring experts from U.S. Bank. The session will provide practical guidance on identifying scams, understanding common tactics, and taking immediate steps if you’ve been affected.
