Caring for a loved one with dementia can be overwhelming. Families are often faced with difficult questions: How do I understand the symptoms? What kind of care is available? And when is the right time to make decisions about home care or long-term care facilities?

To support family caregivers through these challenges, Rush University is testing a Dementia Care Planning Tool focused on home care and institutional-based long-term care. This tool is specifically designed for Chinese family caregivers.

The Dementia Care Planning Tool aims to help family caregivers:

  • Understand dementia symptoms and care strategies
  • Learn about the types and features of home care and institutional-based long-term care services
  • Plan and make decisions regarding dementia care services

Your valuable feedback will help improve this dementia care planning tool.

Study Eligibility

  • Chinese adult (18 years or older)
  • Current or past experience caring for a relative with dementia

Study Activities

Family caregivers who participate will:

  • Use the tool and complete surveys
  • Participate in an interview conducted in Mandarin, Cantonese, or English
  • Spend approximately 90–120 minutes in an interview, either in Chicago’s Chinatown or by Zoom

Participants will receive a $100 incentive for their time.
