Maya Horowitz
COTA/L, DIR Level 1 Certified, Occupational Therapy Assistant
Maya is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with extensive experience working with children ages 1 to 22 from diverse backgrounds. She earned her Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Occupational Therapy Assistance from Fox College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts. Maya recently completed her DIR Level 1 certification through Profectum in April 2021.
As a childcare provider, Maya has hands-on experience with various developmental methods, including DIR (Floortime). She has supported children on the autism spectrum, those with separation anxiety, spina bifida, and sensory processing disorders. Most recently, she worked as a teaching assistant at Soaring Eagle Academy in Lombard, IL, with children and young adults ages 4 to 22. She has also served as a COTA at Evola Pediatrics, LEEP Forward, and High Road School, working with children on the autism spectrum and those with sensory processing disorders.
In addition to her pediatric work, Maya has experience supporting older adults in a nursing home setting, working with patients recovering from strokes, hip replacements, traumatic brain injuries, and COVID-19. She places great importance on getting to know each child she works with and is motivated and excited to bring her passion for care to CASL.
Outside of work, Maya enjoys working out, dancing, biking, cooking at home, and trying new restaurants with friends and family.
