Montell Guan
Youth Program Leader (grades 7th-12th)
In his role as a Youth Program Leader, Montell serves as a mentor, tutor and enrichment teacher. He previously held roles as a teacher’s aide for math and English classrooms for Chicago Public Schools and as an AmeriCorps public servant.
Montell’s work is important to him as a queer Chinese American who grew up in a small town with little representation. He is thankful for the opportunity to build up the youth community in Chinatown and proud to connect with like-minded people who create a strong sense of belonging.
Montell loves cooking, calisthenics and reading. He is currently studying Mandarin Chinese.
