Yijia (Yvette) Hu

MSW, LSW, Domestic Violence Case Manager

Yijia (Yvette) Hu is the Domestic Violence Case Manager in the Family Advocacy Unit, where her work focuses on supporting adult survivors of domestic violence and intimate partner abuse. She provides a range of services—including safety planning, counseling, and case management—to help clients navigate abusive relationships safely, while also connecting them to timely and appropriate legal, housing, immigration, financial, and child support resources.

Yijia earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago, where she was trained in trauma-responsive practices and gained two years of experience supporting Chinese immigrant individuals and families. In her work, she prioritizes her clients’ voices, authenticity, and choices by fostering a warm, collaborative environment and using knowledge as a tool for empowerment.

Originally from China, she has lived in the U.S. since 2018. Her own immigration journey has been a channel for her to empathize with various immigration struggles and trauma that often comes with the experience. She is currently licensed as an LSW in Illinois and offers services in both Mandarin and English, available in-person or virtually depending on client needs.

Outside of work, Yijia enjoys cooking, listening to music/podcasts, and taking long walks by the lake with friends.
