Chinese American Service League Announces Board Leadership Transition

July 15, 2026

Eileen Chin Succeeds Bonnie Fong as Board Chair Effective July 1

CHICAGO — The Chinese American Service League (CASL), the Midwest’s largest Asian American social service organization, announced today that Eileen Chin has assumed the role of Board Chair, effective July 1, 2026. Chin succeeds Bonnie Fong, who served on CASL’s board for 10 years, including nearly five as Board Chair.

Chin is President of R.M. Chin & Associates (CHIN), a M/W/DBE firm specializing in owner’s representation, project and construction management, engineering, and public involvement services across the transportation, aviation, and buildings sectors. She brings decades of executive leadership experience and deep roots in Chicago’s Chinatown community. Chin first joined CASL’s Associate Board in her twenties, following the example of her father, a longtime CASL supporter.

“Eileen brings extraordinary leadership, a genuine commitment to this community, and a clear-eyed vision for where CASL is headed,” said Paul Luu, CASL CEO. “We are grateful for the exceptional foundation Bonnie built over nearly five years as Board Chair, and we are confident that Eileen is the right leader to carry that work forward as we approach a pivotal chapter in CASL’s history.”

Fong joined the CASL board over a decade ago after meeting CASL founder Bernie Wong, whose advocacy for Chicago’s Asian American community made an immediate impression. During her tenure as Chair, Fong helped guide the organization through significant growth, including the national expansion of the ChangeInSight data platform and a comprehensive rebrand.

“CASL has been carefully laying a solid foundation for growth, and I’ve never been more confident in where this organization is headed,” said Fong. “Eileen is a deeply committed leader who knows this community and understands what’s at stake. I couldn’t be more proud to pass the torch to her.”

Chin’s appointment comes as CASL prepares to advance a comprehensive fundraising initiative supporting expanded services and its Community Hub vision.

“CASL serves generations, and I want to be part of that generational impact,” said Chin. “I’m honored to step into this role and to work alongside an exceptional staff and board as we move boldly — and thoughtfully — into CASL’s next 50 years.”
