This summer, CASL welcomed youth ages 5–18 into a summer program built around educational enrichment, social-emotional learning, community involvement, outdoor recreation, and field trips that made for a memorable few months.

Campers took part in academic enrichment and summer learning, reading and literacy activities, arts & crafts, and hands-on STEM projects. Outside the classroom, they stayed active with sports and outdoor games, built confidence through social-emotional learning and team-building exercises, and — for our middle and high school youth — developed leadership skills. Free play and structured recreation rounded out each day.

Just Roots Community Volunteering

Youth volunteered at Just Roots Chicago, helping with urban farming and community food initiatives. Along the way, they learned about sustainability, healthy food systems, and teamwork — putting civic engagement into practice through hands-on service.

Building Skills Beyond the Classroom

Over the course of the summer, campers built friendships across age groups, grew in confidence and independence, and practiced teamwork and communication — all while staying active and exploring Chicago through community-based learning. It all added up to a summer of lasting memories in a safe, supportive environment.
